Commissioned and honoured
Welcome
-
Where are you happiest, working, resting or playing?
-
When was the last time you were thanked, and how did it make you feel?
Worship
-
Spend a little time in worship that is appropriate to your group making sure you acknowledge the Jesus is present.
Word
-
Read Luke 10:1-24
-
In this passage Jesus gives the disciples a specific commission. What is the commission that Jesus has given you?
-
A key theme of the commission of Jesus to all Christians is that we are sent people. Who is God sending you to and what is he asking you to do?
-
How do you relate your working (or daily) life to being sent by Jesus into the world?
Witness
-
How do you feel about being "lunch" to the world? (see verse 3 lambs to wolves)
-
Having been in the field, Jesus then reflects and corrects his disciples. How do you do this for one another as a group?
-
Reread verse 21, as you stand before God the Father, know that he honours you, how does that make you feel?
-
How can you honour one another and encourage one another as you seek to follow Christ?
-
Spend some time honouring one another.
If you have time:
-
Give everyone a piece of paper and ask people to write their name at the bottom of the page.
-
Pass the paper to the person on your right.
-
Ask everyone to listen to God and then write something affirming about the person whos paper they have.
-
Role the paper down to cover what has been written and the pass it on.
-
Repeat until you have made it round the whole room and back.
Give people a little space to read what has been written about them.
Close in prayer.
