Transformed Living:  The Fruits of the Spirit

Housegroup Leaders Introduction:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law" - Galatians 5:22-23.

On June 5th we begin a new series which is based around the well-known passage in Galatians 5:22-23 commonly called ‘The Fruits of the Spirit’.  The series will draw on a number of passages of scripture which will help us to unpack the way in which each fruit of the Spirit can be nurtured and lived.
The series will explore some of the marks of Gods transforming power and Spirit at work within our lives.

The 9 week series picks up the following:

Love –                       1John4:7-21
Joy -
Peace -
     Philippians 4:4-9
Patience -                James 1:19-27; 5:7-12
Kindness -               2Samuel 9
Goodness -             Luke 6:27-36, Psalm 34:11-16
Faithfulness -         Matthew 25:14-30
Gentleness -          Matthew 21:1-22
Self-control -          James 3:1-12, 4:1-10

House-group notes:

For this series house-group notes will take the form of a booklet which is part of the ‘Life Builder’ series.  Booklets will be provided and available for collection at St Giles' & St George's from this Sunday.  Collection points are:  St Giles' - Back of Church.  St George's - behind reception.

The Booklets follow the reading from Galatians 5 and include some helpful background information on each of the Fruits of the Spirit.  The set readings for each week will need to be integrated into the study by Housegroup leaders in a way that works for each group.  It should be a good opportunity to allow scripture to interpret scripture and build a systematic approach to understanding each fruit of the Spirit.
